Study Details
A study comparing two common treatment approaches for newly diagnosed intermediate-risk rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS): higher doses of chemotherapy given over a shorter time and lower doses of chemotherapy plusmaintenance treatment given over a longer time.
(IRB#: IRB_00205071)
This study is for people who have recently been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS). RMS is a type of cancer that starts in the body's soft tissues, such as muscles. The cancer in this study is considered intermediate risk (IR), which means there is a moderate chance that it could come back after treatment. The purpose of this study is to compare two chemotherapy treatment plans: A higher dose of chemotherapy given over a shorter period of time A lower dose of chemotherapy given over a longer period of time, followed by maintenance treatment Researchers want to learn about the good and bad effects of each treatment plan. They want to know if one approach works better than the other for treating intermediate-risk RMS. Both treatment plans are considered standard treatments for this type of cancer. This means they are treatments that are commonly used and accepted for patients with intermediate-risk RMS.
