Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for Depression During Pregnancy or Postpartum.

(IRB#: IRB_00201304)

This study looks at whether a non-medication treatment called TMS can help reduce depression during pregnancy or after having a baby. Depression is common during this time, and some people prefer not to take medication or do not get enough relief from it. TMS uses gentle magnetic pulses on the head to stimulate parts of the brain that affect mood. It does not involve surgery or anesthesia. Most people tolerate it well, with mild scalp discomfort being the most common side effect. If you join, you will receive treatment about 5 days a week for 48 weeks. You will also complete questionnaires and have regular check-ins with the study team. Your health will be closely monitored. The goal is to learn if people can complete this treatment and if it may help improve depression. This may lead to better treatment options in the future.
