Testing the Drug JNT-517 in People with Phenylketonuria

(IRB#: IRB_00194497)

Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a condition in which a persons body does not break down an amino acid called phenylalanine. People with PKU must follow a special diet limiting the amount of protein they eat. This study will test a drug called JNT-517 to treat people with this disease. The study wants to see if the drug will help people with the disease and is safe. People in the study will be randomly chosen to be treated with JNT-517 or a placebo. A placebo looks like the study drug but does not have the medicine. The drug and placebo are taken as a swallowed pill. Being in the study requires attending in-person visits at the study clinic, with an option for a couple of home visits over about 14 months. Participants will keep a diet diary. Medical tests will be done during the study to track the health of participants.
