Testing the Drug BHV-8000 in Adults with Early Parkinsons Disease
(IRB#: IRB_00193758)
Parkinsons disease is a chronic brain disorder causing issues with movement and balance. This study will test a drug called BHV-8000 to treat adults with early Parkinsons Disease. The study wants to see if the drug will help people with early onset of the disease and is safe. People in the study will randomly be chosen to receive BHV-8000 or a placebo. The placebo looks like the study drug but does not contain the medication. People in the study will write daily in a journal. Being in the study requires attending about 11 in-person visits at the study clinic over 1 year, unless continuing in an extension of the study. Medical tests will be done during the study to track the health of participants. People will be paid for study participation.
