Violence and the Transgender Experience

(IRB#: IRB_00193383)

This study looks at how ideas about what it means to be masculine can sometimes lead to unfair treatment or even violence against transgender people. We want to understand how these ideas, called "hegemonic masculinity," and feelings of dehumanization (seeing people as less than human) affect the way society treats trans individuals. We will ask transgender people about their experiences and also look at what society in general thinks.
