Crohns Therapy During and After Pregnancy for Females with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

(IRB#: IRB_00192870)

This study will test whether the rates of birth defects, miscarriages, premature births, and other outcomes in females with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) taking azathioprine/6MP or biologic therapy are different from those among IBD-affected females not taking these medications. As many females receive these types of drugs during prime reproductive years, this information helps guide the therapy of those with Crohns Disease or Ulcerative Colitis who want to have children while receiving this therapy for the illness. People in the study who are pregnant with IBD will complete questionnaires during each trimester of pregnancy, at delivery, 4, 9, 12 months, and then once a year up to 18 years after the birth of the baby. Questionnaires will be done by telephone, online, or at a clinic visit. Medical records will be shared with the study team.
