Testing the Drug Buloxibutid for People with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a disease caused by the build up of scar tissue in the lungs making the lungs unable to work normal. This study will test a drug called Buloxibutid to treat people with this disease. The study wants to see if the drug will help people with the disease and is safe. People in the study will be randomly chosen to be treated with Buloxibutid or a placebo. A placebo looks like the drug but does not have the medication. Being in the study requires up to 8 study visits at the clinic and 8 phone visits over 54 weeks. Medical tests will be done during the study to track the health of participants.

Inclusion Criteria
- Age 40 years and older
- Diagnosed with IPF within 5 years before participation
- Not currently receiving treatment for IPF with a licensed therapy, or on a stable dose of a licensed IPF therapy for at least 8 weeks before participation
- Must meet health criteria to fully participate such as life expectancy greater than 12 months
- Childbearing participant must use birthcontrol during study
Exclusion Criteria
- Any lower respiratory infection requiring antibiotics or Coronavirus-2 infection requiring hospitalization within 4 weeks of the second study visit
- Liver or kidney disease
- Any irregular heart condition such as an arrythmia, Unstable Hypertension, or history of Heart failure/attack
- Serious worsening of IPF within 3 months before participation
- Inability to stop smoking, or other medications impacting study participation
