Glucose Monitoring and Behavior in Adults with Prediabetes
(IRB#: IRB_00184453)
Prediabetes is a health condition where blood sugar levels in the body are higher than usual but not yet high enough to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Prediabetes increases the risk of having type 2 diabetes and other health problems like heart disease. This study wants to help people with prediabetes make healthier food choices to manage their blood sugar better and lower the risk of other health issues. Being in the study requires wearing a continuous glucose monitor, a small device on the arm that tracks blood sugar throughout the day, and using a smartphone app to see what influences eating behaviors. The app will ask questions about hunger, cravings, and mood at different times during the day. This study will see if using the device and smartphone app is helpful for people and if information is given about when people are most likely to make unhealthy food choices. Participation lasts 4 weeks and requires 3 in-person visits at the study clinic.
