Light Therapy for People with Concussion and/or Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

(IRB#: IRB_00182200)

People with concussions or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) may continue to experience long-term symptoms, such as difficulties with thinking, physical discomfort, or emotional challenges. Light therapy is a non-invasive treatment option that may help improve these symptoms. This study will test Red Light therapy devices to treat people with concussions or TBI. The study wants to see if the therapy will help people with ongoing symptoms and is safe. People in the study will be placed in one of two groups. One group will use an active Red Light therapy device while another group uses an inactive device. People will learn how to use the device at home to record usage. After the study ends people in the inactive device group will have the option to participate with the active device for another 15 weeks. People in the study will complete surveys, cognitive and motor skills tests, and an MRI (brain scan). Being in the study requires attending 4 in person visits at the study clinic and lasts 15 weeks.
