Foot and Ankle Shape Differences in Children and Teens with Various Types of Charcot Marie Tooth Disease
(IRB#: IRB_00172882)
Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) disease causes changes in the foot and ankle that can lead to pain and loss of function. This study intends to identify potential differences in bone and muscle structure between children and teens ages 8 to 18 years old with and without CMT. The study also wants to know the difference between genetic subtypes of CMT. This study will learn more about the disease to help develop new treatments. Participants with and without CMT will have two types of medical imaging done to make models of the bones and muscles in the foot and ankle. Participants with CMT will also receive genetic testing to identify their specific subtype of CMT. Participation lasts about 8 hours for those with CMT or 6 hours for those without CMT. Medical tests will be done throughout the study.
