Studying the Genetic Factors in Smoking-Induced Vascular Disease
(IRB#: IRB_00167355)
Genetic factors play a critical role, with studies showing that specific genetic variants may increase smoking-related cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel) disease. This study will determine whether people with specific genetic variants have a higher risk of smoking-induced vascular disease. The study will educate people carrying the genetic variants to stop smoking and provide potential treatments against smoking-induced vascular disease. People in the study will have medical tests during the study to collect genetic information related to genetic factors and vascular health. Being in the study lasts about 35 minutes over 6 months. People will receive payment for participation.
