Parent and Teenage Views of Smartphone Use During Free-time Use on Identity and Self-Concept

Parents and teenagers have views about the impact smartphones have on teenagers. Research is needed to know how using smartphones during free-time impacts teenagers identity and self-concept. The information we learn may aid future parents in helping their children develop healthy smartphone use habits.

Who can participate?

 Gender: All genders

  Age: Over 7 years old

  Volunteers: Healthy Volunteers

   Location: From Home

Inclusion Criteria

  • Ages of 16-18 years old
  • At least in 9th grade
  • Have a smartphone
  • Attends a public, charter or private secondary school in person
  • Teenager lives in a home with parent(s) of origin

Exclusion Criteria

  • Teenagers in blended families
  • Stepparents
  • Graduated from high school
  • Homeschooled
