Testing Electrical Stimulation and Immune Input into the Brain

(IRB#: IRB_00159025)

This study will test electrical stimulation to learn more about the relationship between the brain and the immune system. The immune system protects the body from harmful infections or diseases. People in the study will have electrodes (small device that allows electricity to or from a person's body) placed onto the brain during an already planned upcoming surgery. The electrodes are used to help locate where seizures start in the brain. Brain stimulation and recordings will occur in addition to the standard stimulation and recording performed as a part of epilepsy care. Medical tests will be done during the study to track participants' health.
