Emotion Regulation and Depression in Older Adults

Emotional regulation (ER) may be how a person behaves in social settings and in decision-making. Most ER research is from young adults. We want to learn about ER in older adults and the impact of depression. The information we gain may aid future patients.

Who can participate?

 Gender: All genders

  Age: Over 18 years old

  Volunteers: Healthy Volunteers

   Location: In Person

Inclusion Criteria

  • Ages 55 to 79 years old
  • Fluent in English
  • Diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder or
  • No diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder
  • In-person at the University of Utah

Exclusion Criteria

  • Severe medical illness(s)
  • Severe mental illness(s)
  • Other brain issues such as severe head trauma, Parkinsons disease, or syndrome
  • Nutrition problems
  • Use of drugs causing depression
